The Wedding Planner

So the last two weeks were our last reception and last day of the wedding. I'm so glad it's over now... So we can both start living normal lives again. Nana. I started planning my wedding after we got engaged . July 2013. I had 4 months to plan everything. Well... actually it was only 3 months because last year during Ramadan I didn't do much for my wedding work... So yes... I had 3 months to plan 4 events. Pretty short period of time, right? But alhamdulillah, we managed to do everything as planned. Anyway, my parents gave me the privilege of being the organizer of my own wedding. My father was a banker. The decision was made by my mother, I am the organizer. Well, sort of an investigator. Nana. So I did my research...my planning, my notes and everything...all on my own :)

My mother inspired me to make a wedding book because she is an organized person. She has this journal/organizer where she writes down all her activities and expenses every day. Or even make/buy something or something. So when my parents entrusted me with planning my own wedding, I decided to create my own version of the wedding book . Hello..

At first I thought I had a much simpler version of the book...but over time I realized...I need a more detailed and organized book and file because marriage is definitely an important thing and I have to perform. organized. Plus, planning a wedding is half as much fun as marrying the man of your dreams. I mean... all the headaches, research, shopping, etc. is part of making your dream wedding a reality, right? So I want to memorize this whole part. I am a forgetful person most of the time. So I had to document every step along the way and every choice I made so that one day when I look at my wedding photos I remember why I needed this vendor, or that item, or whatever.. I like to create ceremonies without remembering or even knowing how or why I did or chose certain things and gave the fun part to someone else to make the decisions. After all, we're only going to do this once (inshallah), so of course you want it to be perfect... at least in your eyes. (Note: I'm a perfectionist and into details/I don't trust other people's opinions unless you're my mom or Victoria Beckham. hahaha. Just kidding. :p)

The reason I wanted to say this about my own marriage is because my two sisters got married 7 or 8 years ago, they didn't really know anything about their wedding, except the wedding dress, I guess. Everything was taken care of by my parents and the organizer of the wedding. I personally don't think it was fun enough because I like to be involved in my marriage. Nana. I have so much fun doing and doing all these cute and romantic things. Anyway, when my time came, my mother thought I was a wedding expert because she already had two married daughters. He first asked me who to hire as a wedding planner. I decided not to spend RM20K (or more) on someone just to help us decide what color or what flowers to choose or something like that because we think or at least we think that we (my mom and I) have the same taste have if we do: Mother agreed and said that she didn't need a diary. On this day only a coordinator or secretary is needed. That's all. So yes, I also agree with her, because after doing a lot of research on weddings, I realized that many vendors charge their clients too much. I heard that my father's friend's wedding planner charged him over $300,000 to arrange the wedding. Crazy world I live in. huhu - Well, if you have a lot of money and don't mind spending it on something you can plan or even google, then go ahead. But I'd rather spend that money on other things, like a wedding dress or food. Yes yes. So I put my best friend Farhana in charge of coordination because she is the perfect coordinator, floor manager, secretary, planner, you name it. He will make it perfect. Nana. Thank you dear: I love you! ;)

Anyway, I showed my mom some of the stuff I did for the wedding. He was a bit shocked and has since let me do my job. Nice of you. I think it's such a privilege that my mom let me choose what I wanted for my big day and trusted my taste. I am blessed, mashallah... Praise God. ^__^

So, this is my wedding book. Or an archive, as you might call it. Or maybe even a wedding album, I guess. Yes yes. I stopped here every Sunday. It was fun!! Nana

Anyway, I started doing a lot of research and traveling because my mom gave me the green light. And when I found a good deal, I showed it to my mom and gave it to her. If he agrees, then we make a deal. Nana. Ahhh, my free time goes from here to there. Serious wedding planning is such an experience that I think I want to make it my full time job. Yes yes. P:

Some of you are so curious to know the contents of this booklet. Well... it's just a regular wedding list. Know what to do, what to buy, checklist, receipts and invoices...etc...I like to put things away, even in a book. ha ha

This book still makes me smile every time I open it, even after marriage.
- Well... we've only been married for 2 months. Yes yes. But still! I never tire of looking at him and remembering the ups and downs of our marriage. :')

Yes, he is that fat (and heavy!) haha

I have it too! Our first wedding fair, which we both went to. Asian solid wedding business! - The best wedding fair I've ever been to. Stylish and elegant compared to the other 7 bridal shows I attended.

I will soon publish the contents of this book on my blog. I know that many brides-to-be want to know more about this. I get it often. Don't worry dear, I will share with you soon. :)

P/n: I've already had 3 meetings this week with friends asking about the wedding. And I shared a lot of what I learned and still know with them. What a blessing that we can help them! Ahh... family counseling is fun. Yes yes. So who's next? Let me know, I'm happy to help you. ^___^
