The Henna Night

I have never been one of those girls who likes to wear henna. My friends also thought that since I'm a modern/urban girl, I'll get a nude nail color/french manicure on my wedding day. Well, they are wrong! Applying henna is one of the preparations I look forward to before the wedding! Even though I last hennaed when I was 9, that doesn't mean I won't be tattooing the bride's hands and feet for the big day, right? Because wearing henna is part of our wedding tradition... so of course I won't miss this moment! For example, what are you looking for? I know I won't make it another day! huh huh

It was my mother who encouraged me to wear henna. He said wearing henna is a very nice feeling for a bride, it should not be missed by any bride! And I totally agree! As soon as you see that red on your hands and feet the day before the wedding, you'll feel like a bride! There is something magical about henna that gives you that happy and excited feeling! And when the wedding ceremony is over, it's a beautiful display of henna on your hands/nails, "I just got married !" lol

When I looked at my hands and feet, when I saw that beautiful red color on my nails, I felt so happy... Ah, I am a bride! ^__^

I remember that night at Malam Berinai, we were supposed to have this party (another pre-wedding event for me. LOL!) but something pretty bad happened and we had to cancel the party! T____T So I had to cancel the photographer, the food and I canceled the guests too! :(
Thank goodness they're not that big. Hey... 18 people isn't that big, is it? lol :p

My mom bought me this heavy hand embroidered fabric from Dubai for this henna party! He also bought 13 pieces of traditional pink Indonesian kaba with whole grain for my daughters! The theme was supposed to be Arabian Nights and I was supposed to be some kind of Bollywood girl or something, and she was going to dance the night away. lol Cain is beautiful but too bad I can't wear it! sad sad sad *drama queen mode*

Oh, never mind...some things just can't be avoided and shouldn't be, I guess. Maybe I wear it for Raya? :)

Anyway, even if the henna ceremony is cancelled, of course I will wear henna at my wedding. So whatever happens that day, whether it's a party or not, I demand that you have henna on hand!! This is our habit, how can I break it? ! *bridezilla fashion* LOL :s

My henna artist was this lovely Kak Nur ( @wannoorinai ) who I met on Instagram. One day he kindly sent me a message and told me that he wanted to protect me from henna. Was I really like that? Wow, I can spare RM300 for that, why not? ! Oh, I'm a lucky girl! Thanks Kaka! I really appreciate it! ^___^

So this Friday night he came to my house at 9:00 pm with his lovely daughter. He brought all his tools with him. So don't worry about creating a mess in your home. Bring your hands and feet! lol He is very professional, accurate and punctual. He also brought a portable mini table, newspapers, kain batik, napkins, knives, scissors, erasers and a photo album of his work. Everything is well done! Like I said, you don't need to prepare anything. Just water and food for him would be great! lol

He used his son-in-law.. He brought a lot of henna with him! They are really beautiful colors!

You can also buy some henna tubes from him if you want.. If I'm not mistaken his henna is from Yemen and he mixed it with some kind of oil (don't know what) to make this beautiful red henna !

Honestly, I love his work! It's nice! Kemas, cepat and cantik! You will definitely be satisfied! I'm not saying this because he's protecting me, but because I really like his work! This photo above is my second time wearing henna to my husband's 3rd party reception. I love this design! This lace fits you like a glove!

Mini sat on her blanket and Kak Nur took care of me. Sorry, no head shots. I didn't wear a scarf that night. Oh yes... A tip I have to share with brides, don't wear skirts or long dresses for your mehndi party. It is very difficult to maintain the baju by letting the henna dry. I wore this white kaftan from Radzuan Radziwill with chinos. So it was very comfortable and airy. It's even easier for my henna artist!

Usually the henna artist draws and applies the henna on you and then goes home. But Kak Noor's service also includes cleaning for you! So don't worry about ruining the beautiful design as this will make sure your henna is perfect before you peel it off. I already posted the video of Kak Noor explaining my faith on my Instagram! Look! :)

Starts at 21:00 and ends at 23:00. So with the whole design it was about 2 hours as it dried and washed. But how? For a busy bride like me, you can use this time to sleep while your henna artist paints your hands! lol

Or if you haven't eaten anything in the evening, you can sit like a princess and eat your dinner too! Since we canceled lunch, we ordered a pizza! Quick and tasty! lol

That morning I performed the Koran Khatam ceremony … I was so tired I passed out! I would fall asleep every few minutes while he was doing my hands and feet. But it was hard enough to sleep when you knew you had to carefully protect them while you waited for the henna to dry! lol So I finally had time to chat with him. He is also very chatty and friendly! He shared so many stories and experiences with me... It was a nice evening for me!

By the way, another tip I want to mention here is related to manicure. If you also want to get henna on your nails on the big day, I don't recommend spending your money at the nail salon! They are such a waste of money! How? Because if you do, the henna won't stick to your painted nails! And they will be stained...and half baked. And needless to say, beautiful! So save that money and paint your nails another day, okay? NOT for your wedding unless you are bald!

Thank God I didn't do anything! So my son-in-law is perfect!

Sit on the pelamina to get the feel of the wedding! lol
(I was so tired, can?! Well...I was! Tell your mom, Berinai Don't recite Hatem Quran on the same day as your night! lol :p)

After that night, 3 friends came to see me; Liyana, my daughter and my two daughters, Tya and Rina. They didn't want to take pictures because they were wearing pajamas! lol They decided to spend the night at my house! Thanks for your feedback girls! It was like a pre-wedding dream where we talked and talked all night long. And then they wouldn't let me sleep! lol Sorry ladies if I didn't have enough fun that night! I didn't feel very well and my body was very tired! :(

Super red, I love it!

Shit Nurla Henna Master

I remember that night after washing and drying my hands and feet... When I saw the red color on my hands I felt so warm and fuzzy inside that I almost wanted to tear them! lol Henna is just the beginning of the wedding season! So, "Awww... I'm finally getting married! I'm getting married in less than 24 hours! Wow... so happy. HERE!" , I said to myself - Too sentimental? Yes more or less! I'm a hopeless romantic girl! :P

If you don't prefer intricate designs like mine, put them on your nails. That would be cool too! Simple and clean. The photo above was my second time wearing henna. Because of my husband's receptiveness. The entry was a month after I joined this year. So I had to find my faith again! The reason the nail cap parts are not black and red is because I wore them two days before I received them. Kak Noor was not free the day before my admission. So two days later she created a super red formula for perfect color! You can see the fawn in my hand here - The color came out perfectly this Saturday! But... I have to say the second time I wore it, I didn't feel the same as the first time!

I would really recommend all brides to wear inai on their nails for the big day. You only get married once (God willing), enjoy every moment! It's a beautiful feeling, especially if you've been married for a few months and are about to cut off the last shred of your faith! - "Pengantin baru!" don't want to! ok then! lol

This is what stays on my nails! Sounds like a French manicure, doesn't it? But the Malaysian version of course! lol I'll have to cut them soon! Say goodbye to wedding nails! You have been my best friend for 4 months now!
