The Nikah Hantaran

I wrote for a long time. Sorry to make you wait. This is mostly because of my crazy schedule...and partially because my wedding theme has more details and more pictures to share here! After looking into the details of my wedding, I decided to break it down into a few parts. So, here is the first part of the tutorial .

I don't know about you, but I think a hunterran exchange is one of the most enjoyable parts of a Malaysian wedding that a bride should not miss! I mean, everyone loves to get gifts, right? At least me! Haha I love receiving them and giving them away! (Remember this post by Santa ? Haha :p) Of course, buying Hantaran gifts for him was such an exciting experience for me that I'm a shopaholic! : s

Well .. I bought myself all the gifts! - Because I can make all the decisions! Haha well... I actually wanted to "sync" our talents. You know, I love the same people, products, brands, or I want to add a little more buzz because it's a wedding! Haha laughing face
So my then boyfriend and now husband let me pick what I wanted in his class and what I wanted in mine because he's so cool. ^__^
Anyway... A month before the wedding, we went to the Pavilion and Starhill Mall for a day of shopping to check off our wish list and buy her and her gifts together . Oh God... This was such a fun moment for me!

For my non-Malaysian/Non-Malaysian readers, the hantarana is actually a unique groomsmen gift box that can be redeemed during the wedding ceremony. Gifts are not specified on the Hantran menu, although there are some must-have items, such as daun sirih (betel leaves) and bunga rampai , which is thinly sliced daun pandan (grape leaves) mixed with rose water and sprinkled with jasmine flowers. It is similar in meaning to the Malay Khantaran tradition that has survived to this day... I still don't understand why it is on our list of Khantarans ! Haha I mean, I can just exchange the scented trays for toiletries or perfume bottles, right? You know... something practical and useful! Haha with

However, the bride's side will return at least 2 more gifts/trays than the groom's side. So the number of drawers can be 5-3, 7-5, 9-7, 11-9, 11-13 or more! The number of gifts is always odd, but there is no minimum or maximum number of gifts/trays that must be given by both parties. The number of presents and presents to give depends on the couple/family. Gantarons are decorated with ribbons, beads, flowers and more according to the color theme chosen by each family.

The Hantarana exchange is optional, but it's our very own Malaysian wedding tradition, which I personally find to be one of the most enjoyable parts of the ceremony! :)

Supporters usually exchange wedding gifts during the ceremony to strengthen the relationship between the families of the newlyweds.

Last time, we had 16 trays at our wedding ; 9 trays on two sides and 7 trays on one side. Therefore, at the time of marriage, we decided to add 4 more trays to this number, 13 trays from me and 11 + 1 tray from her. The additional amount is the mas kahween , the obligatory dowry (or dowry in Arabic) in an Islamic marriage, an amount of money that each groom must pay to his bride, without which the marriage would not be valid. So, a total of 25 wedding favor trays! So you can imagine how excited we were that night. Well...at least my husband did! haha

dowry

Dowry is something that the groom must give to his wife on her wedding day, usually but not always in the form of money. Although I wanted my gold to be in the shape of a rod, my dad said it would be easier for him to say money. So let's focus on the money. Note that Mehr is not to be confused with Hantaran . Dowry or dowry is obligatory but not the khantar .

The Dulang boys, also known as the plate bearers, brought me 11 trays of wedding gifts

My Dulang girls brought him 13 trays of wedding gifts

In addition to the dress and the pelomin (wedding table), I think the bride should think about the decoration of the huntarana , which is also best done by a professional. As the sheikhs say, I am Majles cheese ! I totally agree! So I would highly recommend any bride to spend some money on wedding decorations , as they are the perfect touch to brighten up the overall wedding atmosphere! With so much care and attention to detail in Hantran 's presentation, it's no wonder that people these days often take pictures of Hantran when they attend weddings. We love to see something that looks pretty to our eyes, right?

Well, here it is, our wedding ..

From him to Guntarun .

Using pink and cream flowers, the decorator chose roses, peonies, carnations, and baby flowers for her tray to complement the colors of the Dulang Boys' dress that night and my wedding theme, which was dusty pink and off-white. This hantran ornament is from Adi Wedding Deco. Display each gift on a mirrored tray and serve it on a square champagne pillow on top of a box-shaped mirror! beautiful is not it?

This was a hangout from me to him.

Ari Wedding Couture arranged the arrangement. They made my beautiful Hantaran engagement ring in July, so of course I decided to have them as one of my suppliers for my big day...and I'm so glad I did! These chanterelles were so beautiful and so delicious! Look at those happy colors! so cute!

As flowers they used green lilies, blue hydrangeas, pink roses, peonies and carnations. Instead of placing them on trays, they used a box-shaped mirror as a "tray" to display the huntran and then used a beige square chair for each huntran as a platform! What creativity! - I love that the beige and brown striped stool goes well with the carpet and curtains in the hallway! Happy bride! ^__^

And boy...they were so heavy that my dulang girls complained! Haha sorry girls, that's what bridesmaids are! : s

Flowers, pearls and a mirror. very well!

Enough talking, let's enjoy the fall decor from these two big sellers, shall we?

From him to Lee Janatharan by Adi Wedding Deco:

2) Prince Jewelry Marquise Diamond Ring

3) Transfer money

4) Prayer robes or Telekung as we call them

5) Some chocolate chip candies.
Yes, it's chocolate! Everything you see here is edible! That's Gambhir, Kapoor to Kachip/Gunting down Sirich and Full! Totally Correct?

Since I posted this on my Instagram, many of you have been asking me what these chocolates are. Well, here's the scoop: We ordered it from Chocolate Chapters in Bangsar. You can check out my slaughter videos on my killing page! You can customize your order for Tanjak Malay, Masjid Putrajaya, Masjid Shah Alam and more! Prices vary by design. RM500 and up. I don't have any contact number but you can find it in bangsar mall.

It will be a nice set of hands. Not to mention more practical! Heh, you could consider replacing this tray with Tepak Sirih, which I think is kind of... a thoughtless imitation of our ancestors because we don't use Down Sirih in our lives these days, right? Haha but we eat chocolate right?! Hahaha... He still wanted Tepak Sirih to be included in Hantran's list, because she said there was no point in excluding Tepak Sirih because Sirih is a Malay culture, so is Hantran too. So without Sireh it would be "No Hantran" . I guess tradition is still tradition...and I'm just a Gen Y. hehe

However, they turned the chocolate a bronze color instead of brown which led many people to believe it was real cereh tepak and wonder why there were two sierh tepak in my hunterran bowl! hehe

Not only does the chocolate look good, it tastes great too! Order today!

However, Hantaran Deco may not be as expensive as Pelamina Deco - you know how Pelamina can easily cost RM10,000 or more these days, right? We live in a crazy world! zkk Fortunately, you can get Hantaran decorations for as low as RM100 per tray! Some people use artificial flowers to decorate the house to reduce costs, but I think using live flowers will make your home decorations more interesting!

For those looking to hire Ari Wedding Couture, they charge RM250 per tray for generous delivery /complete with fresh flowers, excluding stand fee and carriage fee. You can contact Mr. Ari on 017 223 0998. Or if you prefer a simpler version like a hantran for my husband, you can contact Mr. Adi at Adi Wedding Deco on 016 209 4784. My doubles are only 150 rupees per tray! Excluding transportation and platform costs.

Good luck planning your wedding, girls! Rejoice! :)
